There is still a severe labour shortage in the healthcare sector.

This is why Minister Vandenbroucke announced on his website the Government's decision to extend two measures for pensioners working in the health care sector by one year. These measures, which came into force on 1 July 2022, expired on 30 September 2023.

These two measures are:

  • An exemption from personal social security contributions for their work performed in this sector and
  • Taxation at a separate rate of 33% for remuneration relating to this work.

Please refer to our Infoflash of 12 June 2023 for more information.

These measures would be extended for one year until 30 September 2024.
