Since 1 July 2022, pensioners working in the care sector have been entitled to an exemption of personal social security contributions for their performances in that sector.
Initially scheduled to run until 31 December 2022, this measure was extended for the first time until 31 March 2023.
A draft programme law envisages a further extension of this exemption until 30 September 2023. This information is provided subject to publication in the Belgian Official Gazette.
We invite you to consult our infoflash of 26 August 2022 for more details about this exemption measure.
The remuneration of pensioners in the care sector is taxed separately at the rate of 33%, provided that this remuneration is:
- exempt from personal social security contributions in accordance with the above-mentioned measure,
- and paid or awarded no later than 31.12.2023.
