Extension of economic support measures until 30 September 2021

On 18 May 2021, the government decided to extend a series of economic support measures until 30 September 2021.

A brief overview of the main measures:

• Temporary unemployment due to force majeure for all sectors;
• Individual deferment of tax payments + non-application of NSSO sanctions in case of non-payment of advances and possibility to apply repayment plans without sanctions;
• Home working allowance in the private sector and for civil servants: increase in the amount;
• Increased quota of voluntary overtime hours to 220 hours in the healthcare sector, crucial sectors and essential services;
• Freeze on decreasing full unemployment benefits, neutralisation of the period of integration allowances:
• Reduction of the withholding tax for temporary unemployment.

Apart from this extension of the current support measures, the federal government also decided on 21 April to launch a package of measures to support the reopening of the sector, including an important package for the hospitality sector. See our Infoflash of 21 April 2021.

The objective is to move to more exceptional measures and relaunch initiatives from 1 October 2021.
