The September declaration from the Flemish government announces a double expansion of the Flemish job bonus: an additional one-time 100€ will be granted to all persons receiving the job bonus, and from 2023 the target group will be expanded by increasing the wage limit.

In a previous Infoflash, we already gave the necessary information about the still very new measure of the job bonus. As of 2022, employees with wages of less than 2,500€ gross can receive a job bonus, the amount of which is between 20€ and 600€.

The Flemish Government is now announcing 2 changes regarding the job bonus.

In 2022

In 2022, a one-time 100€ is added to the job bonus amount. Those entitled to 600€ receive 700€ this year. Those entitled to 20€ receive 120€ this year. This is in response to increased energy costs.

This provision was published in the Belgian Official Gazette of 31.10.2022.

In 2023

As of 2023, the target group for the job bonus will change:

  • The wage limit will increase from 2,500€ to 2,700€ gross per month for the first 2 quarters of 2023. This wage limit will increase again to 2,900€ for the second half of 2023. In this way, more employees will be eligible for the job bonus.
  • The lower limit of the wage bonus will also change: currently employees with wages up to 1,800€ receive the maximum bonus of 600€, this will be adjusted to a wage of 1,950€. This means that more employees will be able to enjoy the maximum bonus.
  • The minimum bonus amount will also change. In 2022, the job bonus is paid from the amount of 20€ for those working full-time, and in 2023 only from the amount of 50€.

Please note: the above provisions are only mentioned in a press release from the Flemish government. This has not yet been transposed in legislative texts. We will keep you informed.
