The company car certificate was only introduced on 6 January 2019 and there it goes into the wastepaper basket.

Context

Since 6 January 2019, every employer had to deliver a company car certificate when the employment contract ended of an employee to whom a company car was made available or who received a mobility allowance.

Abolition

Due to an amendment in the mobility allowance legislation, in the event of a change of employer, the company car or the mobility allowance that was granted with the previous employer is no longer taken into account to assess whether a mobility allowance can be granted with the new employer.

Consequently, there should also be no exchange of data on the company car and/or the mobility allowance between the previous and the new employer. Because of this, the company car certificate loses its usefulness and has been abolished since 1 March 2019.
