Many companies in Flanders struggle with mobility problems and are looking for sustainable alternatives to the (company) car for commuting. Do you intend to organise sustainable commuting by promoting the use of bicycles among your employees? Be sure to check whether you are eligible for subsidies of the Pendelfonds!
The Pendelfonds (commuting fund) is a Flemish government initiative that subsidises projects to promote sustainable commuting. These projects aim at reducing the number of vehicle movements for commuting.
Companies or other private institutions but also local or provincial authorities or other public institutions (in collaboration with a private partner) can apply for subsidies if they represent (together) at least 10 employees.
This 12th appeal of the Pendelfonds is entirely focused on bicycle projects, which aim at a modal shift from non-sustainable means of transport to cycling (city bike, e-bike or speed-pedelec).
The following bicycle measures are intended:
The Pendelfonds gives the following example: by means of limited structural interventions, the bicycle accessibility of a company can be improved, for example by making it possible for cyclists to cross the road or use a short cut.
The subsidy amount is limited to half of the costs related to the execution of the project, with a ceiling of €200,000 and applies for a period of up to 4 years.
The amounts that are eligible for subsidies are capped for a number of measures.
If the total subsidy amount of the files that received a positive advice is larger than the available set budget, then a ranking order is drawn up.
At regular intervals a call is launched to apply for project subsidies.
On 10 July 2018, the Pendelfonds appealed to introduce bicycle projects.
The project applicant should request a file number through the website of the Pendelfonds. This can be done up to and including 10 August 2018. Remember, forewarned is forearmed!
After applying for a file number, a strict timing procedure will be operated.
More information about the procedure and the support you can receive at the further composition of your file can be found on the website of the Pendelfonds.
Subsidies are only granted after a positive decision of the minister of Mobility.
