Teleworking is one of the measures that is taken in the fight against the coronavirus.

Following the National Security Council of 27 July 2020, teleworking is strongly recommended by a ministerial decree of 28 July 2020:

  • in all enterprises, associations and services, whatever their size
  • and for any member of staff whose position lends itself to it.

If teleworking is not applied, the employer still has to:

  • take the appropriate measures to ensure maximum compliance with the rules of social distancing in the case of a non-essential company or association;
  • take the appropriate measures to apply, as far as possible, the rules of social distancing in the case of a company of the crucial sectors or an essential service.

Please note! At other levels, additional preventive measures may be taken by the competent authorities. This is the case in the province of Antwerp where “teleworking is compulsory, except when this is absolutely impossible”.
