Brussels Capital Region: the same social security reduction for all older employees

As part of the regionalisation of employment aid, the Brussels Capital Region has set up its own reduction in employers' social security contributions for employers who have an establishment unit in the Brussels Capital Region and who employ older workers there.

The amount and minimum age for this measure have been changed as from 1 July 2018:

  • The minimum age is 57 at the end of the quarter (instead of 55).
  • The amount of the reduction is €1,000/quarter (for a full-time employee with full performance over the quarter) until the quarter of the 64th anniversary. Until 30 June 2018, the amount of the reduction varies according to the age bracket to which the employee belongs.

From 01.07.2018:

Age at the last day of the quarter

 €1,000/quarter

No transitional measure.

This means that the employee currently aged 55 or 56, who would benefit from this reduction for older workers, will no longer benefit from it from 1 July 2018 until the quarter of his 57th birthday.
