The Walloon government has announced new measures to eliminate the shortage of skilled labour in the bottleneck professions. Three measures are planned. One has already entered into force.
From 1 September 2018, young people who pass their training course giving access to a bottleneck profession are entitled to a premium of € 350. He is also entitled to coaching in preparation for his job interviews.
An employer who needs 8 people for the same job can ask Forem for a tailor-made training adapted to the needs of the company. Subsequently, the employer is obliged to recruit 80% of the successful candidates.
The administration of the ‘Plan formation insertion’ (PFI) will be simplified: the employee will receive his compensation directly from the Forem and no longer through the employer. The latter will receive an invoice from the Forem.
The measure currently only applies to the private sector but will also be opened up to the public sector. The entry into force is announced for the beginning of 2019. More details are not known yet.
