There is a draft agreement 2019-2020 in Joint Subcommittee 142.01 (metal recovery)

On 4 June 2019, the social partners of joint subcommittee 142.01 for metal recovery concluded a draft agreement. As stipulated in the Royal Decree of 24 April 2019 implementing Article 7 § 1 of the Act of 26 July 1996 on the promotion of employment and the preventative safeguarding of competitiveness, this agreement complies with the maximum negotiating envelope of 1.1% in 2019 and 2020.

Provisions with an impact on wages

Wage increase

From 1 June 2019, the scale and actual wages will increase by 0.6 %.

Recurrent annual gross premium

As from 1 July 2019, a recurrent annual gross premium of 160 EUR will be granted, except for companies that opt for an alternative solution by 15 September 2019.

Mobility (as from 01/10/2019)

As from 1 October 2019, the employer's contribution to the costs of public transport will increase to 80%.

Feasible work

Seniority leave

As from 1 July 2019, the non-recurrent jubilee anniversary after 10 years of service will be converted into a recurrent day of seniority leave after 20 years of service.

Short leave in the event of decease (from 1 July 2019)

  • Extension of the period for taking short leave: 30 days from the day prior to death.
  • The number of days of short leave is increased from 3 to 5 days when relatives of the first degree die.

Social Security Fund

On 1 July 2019, the additional allowance for temporary unemployment will be indexed by 4,13 %.

Training and education

From 1 July 2019, a collective right of 1 day of training per manual worker per year will arise.

Scheme of unemployment with corporate allowance (SWT/RCC)

The sectoral social partners sign all CLAs on RCC/SWT concluded in the National Labour Council (NLC) until 30 June 2021.

Wind-down time jobs and time credit

Maximum extension of the entitlement to half-time and full-time time credit, provided that a company collective labour agreement has been signed:

  • up to 51 months (motive to care for a child under 8 years old);
  • up to 36 months (motive training).

In addition, maximum extension of the entitlement to wind-down time jobs until 31.12.2020:

  • 1/5 wind-down time job with benefits as from the age of 55;
  • half-time wind-down time job with benefits as from the age of 57.

Overtime

The internal limit is extended from 143 hours to 180 hours, provided that there is a company collective labour agreement.
