Labour deal: draft law submitted to the Chamber

It contains the following measures, among others:

  • Part-time employees with variable work schedules: extension of work schedule announcement deadlines from 5 to 7 working days, with certain derogations;
  • Four-day week: possibility for the employee to work a full-time schedule over 4 days;
  • Alternating working week pattern: possibility for the full-time employee to organize his/her working hours over a 2-week cycle;
  • Transition path: possibility for the employee, in case of dismissal with a notice period, to work for another employer during the notice period through posting;
  • Employability measures: financing, through employer contributions due on part of the notice period or severance pay, of measures enabling the employee to find a new job more easily, in the event of dismissal with a notice period or severance pay of at least 30 weeks;
  • E-commerce: relaxation of the rules on night work;
  • Right to disconnect in companies with at least 20 employees: obligation to conclude a collective bargaining agreement or to adapt the employment regulations for this purpose;
  • Individual right to training: obligation to guarantee, for a full-time employee, 4 training days in 2023 and 5 training days per year from 2024 onwards; drawing up of an annual training plan; 
  • Status of employees of platforms that give orders: introduction of new criteria applicable in case of work performed through these platforms; if a certain number of criteria are met, an employment contract will be presumed to exist.

These measures have yet to be debated in parliament. We will of course keep you informed of the evolution and the date of entry into force of each of these measures.
