The federal government made several decisions last Friday to help businesses cope with soaring energy prices.

An overview of the main measures agreed upon by the government:

  • introduction of a temporary unemployment scheme ‘energy’;
  • deferment of payment of social contributions for companies in difficulties because of high energy costs;
  • deferment of tax payments and tax debt repayment plans;
  • temporary moratorium on bankruptcies for companies affected by the energy crisis due to supplier actions.

Important note! These measures still have to be transposed into legal or regulatory texts.
