Coronavirus: obligation to telework relaxed from 9 June

Author: Catherine Mairy (Legal Expert)
Date:

Among the measures announced by the Consultative Committee on 11 May 2021 is a relaxation of the rules on teleworking.

This relaxation will take place in two steps, provided that certain conditions (linked among others to the vaccination progress) are met.

From 9 June 2021

Teleworking will remain mandatory.

However, it will be possible to provide one 'return to work moment’ per week. The following may be present at the same time:

  • maximum 20 % of the employees;
  • or up to 5 employees in SMEs with less than 10 employees.

This 'return moment' must be organised in such a way as to minimise the risk of contamination at the workplace and during travel to and from work.

For more information on this subject, we refer to the declaration of the social partners of the High Council for Prevention and Protection at Work and of the National Labour Council.

Testing is very highly recommended.

From 1 July 2021

Teleworking will no longer be mandatory, but will continue to be recommended.

Testing will also still be recommended.

We will keep you updated as soon as we have more details.
