Coronavirus: extension of cross-border work agreements

Author: Peggy Criel (Legal Expert)

Belgium and its neighbouring countries concluded agreements on the situation of cross-border workers in the context of the COVID-19 health crisis. The period of application of the agreements with the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and France ran until 31 December 2021 and has now been extended until 31 March 2022.

The period of application of the agreements with the Netherlands, Luxembourg and France shall subsequently be renewed tacitly for a period of 3 months, until 30 June 2022, unless one of the countries concerned terminates it by giving notice in writing at least two weeks (the Netherlands, Luxembourg) or one week (France) before 31 March 2022.

As a reminder, in these agreements, arrangements are made on home working days as a result of the measures taken by the foreign or Belgian governments to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
