In the fight against the COVID-19 virus, additional flash inspections will be organised in the construction sector, cleaning sector, agriculture and horticulture and meat sector from 31 August 2020, for a period of 1 month . This period of 1 month may be extended.

The above inspections will take place in addition to the flash inspections of September 2020 in the  car wash sector (JC 112), already announced in our Infoflash of 10 August 2020.

A flash inspection is an announced inspection that is mainly informative and preventive in nature. This does not mean, however, that the inspection services will not make a report when a serious offence has been committed.

As the announced inspections are approaching, we give you some tips.

Which sectors are targeted?

In the following sectors, from 31 August 2020 (for 1 month), flash inspections may take place to verify compliance with the additional measures to contain the COVID-19 virus:

  • Construction sector;
  • Cleaning sector;
  • Agriculture and horticulture;
  • Meat sector.

How to prepare for an inspection?

In a question to an expert, we explain the employer's rights and obligations in the event of a social inspection.

The SIRS/SIOD check list

The Belgian Social Intelligence and Investigation Service (SIRS/SIOD) has drawn up a specific COVID 19 check list. This check list contains provisions relating to hand hygiene, social distancing, general hygiene, ventilation and contacts with third parties (temporary agency workers, suppliers, customers, contractors etc.).

In addition, the social inspector can also check the register of foreign employees and the Passenger Locator Form (PHPLF).

Flash inspection results

On the website of the SIRS/SIOD you can also consult the results of previous flash inspections. Currently, only the information from the flash inspection in the cleaning sector is available.

What happens next?

This flash action should not make us forget that social legislation must be observed all year round. Unannounced inspections can still take place to help achieve this.

Other sectors

In addition to the announced flash inspections in the car wash sector in September 2020, no new flash inspections are planned for the time being. Should this meanwhile change, we will not fail to inform you of this
