During 2023 and 2024, students can work 600 hours annually with an advantageous status.

From 475 to 600 hours

The annual quota for student work will be increased to 600 hours in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

During 2024, the ministers responsible for Employment and Social Affairs, respectively, will evaluate the measure, with a view to a possible extension beyond 2024.

Solidarity contribution

Students are exempt from ordinary social security contributions for a maximum of 600 hours per calendar year in 2023 and 2024 respectively (the "quota").

For those 600 hours, a specific solidarity contribution of 8.13% is due: 5.42% is borne by the employer and 2.71% is borne by the student.

Unrestricted student employment in the healthcare sector during 1st quarter 2023

Student work in the healthcare sector will continue to be neutralized in the 1st quarter 2023, i.e., not taken into account in the 600-hour quota.

That unlimited employment in the healthcare sector can be combined with the 600-hour quota. A student in 2023, in addition to the 600-hour quota, can work an unlimited number of hours in the healthcare sector during the 1st quarter.
